Welcome to Saint Peter's School! Thank you for taking the time to look at our website. In our changing world, we know that it is hard to connect in your child's educational journey, and we hope that this provides a helpful starting point to learning about who we are as a school community. St Peter’s School is a state integrated full-primary Catholic school, catering for new entrants to Year 8.
I love our school and I love working here. The children are fun-loving, kind and have a thirst for learning. Our kaiako always aim to maintain this wonderful creative stage of life by providing genuine learning opportunities and experiences. We enjoy our local environment, and feel blessed to live in Christchurch, New Zealand Aotearoa.
Our school vision is that with Catholic faith as our compass, we will be learners for life. Our faith underpins who we are and how we teach, and we hope your children will experience a calm and welcoming learning environment because of this. We believe in learning from your children, and we also work hard to teach them in a way that supports a changing world with jobs and technology that continue to alter before our eyes. We will ensure that school offers a balanced curriculum, with devices enhancing some of the learning that takes place. When your child leaves Saint Peter's School, we know they will be ready and prepared for their high school journey, and also thirsty for continued learning.
As a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) school, our values are embedded in our teaching and learning. Students incorporate and discuss our values every day, and I enjoy seeing the seniors support our younger students in developing and expressing these, too.
Our school values are:
Manaakitanga - being caring, compassionate and kind
Whakaute - being peaceful, inclusive and empathetic
Māia - instilling and building confidence, courage, and resilience each day
Pākiki - being curious, inquiring and enthusiastic
Please be encouraged to call our school office for a visit. I am happy to meet with you to discuss your child's learning journey and will look forward to learning all about them as a unique and valued individual.
Outreach to children from Ukraine
A recent example of our outreach is with Ukraine, whom we have supported with a number of initiatives.
Seven Sharp followed the Mahi for Ukraine movement, and St Peter's was delighted to be a part of this important cause.
